Teaching
Teaching is something I believe in deeply and feel a strong duty to pass on whatever knowledge I’ve gained.
Even though I closed my school, The Drawing Room Studio, at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, I continue to offer ways of studying with me and love to offer support to art students and artists of all levels.
Below you’ll find 2 ways of studying with me, depending on what you’re looking for and where in the world you’re located – whether you’d like in-person private lessons at my studio here in Ottawa, Ontario, or video lessons to work through at your own pace.
My focus and background are in classical drawing and painting, working from life, although my training and perspective differs from many other atelier-style educations – I am not particularly dogmatic, I will draw from art history all the way into the 21st century, I do not use the Bargue drawings, and I won’t stop you from painting. I tend to work a full prismatic palette although I am also happy to help you master a limited palette if you’d prefer.
My goal as a teacher and mentor is to always help you achieve the goals that you set for yourself, not the goals that I think you should achieve. Whether you’re a passionate amateur, or looking to develop a professional career, my only aim is to help you achieve the goals that matter to you.
