I got in! I got in! I’m still kind of pinching myself!
I found out a few weeks ago that my painting, “Unlabelled”, was selected as one of the top 30 finalists out of 415 entries for the Kingston Prize, Canada’s nation wide portrait competition (similar to the BP Portrait Award in the UK).
Crazy!

Unlabelled: Doreen, 14″ x 14″ oil paint on oil primed Arches paper. Finalist in the Kingston Prize 2015
So now my painting gets to go on a little tour of Canada in October. It will be showing in Ganonoque ON, Frederiction NB and Drummondville, QC.
Firehall Theatre, Gananoque ON October 8 to 25, 2015
Beaverbrook Gallery, Fredericton NB, November 14, 2015 to February 14, 2016,
Galerie d’art Desjardins, Drummondville QC, 6 March to 10 April 2016.
On November 14, at the Beaverbrook Gallery, the grand prize winner will be announced and receive a cool $20,000. There will also be 2 honourable mentions and a people’s favourite selected at each location, based on attendee’s votes. If you live near one of these places, I’d be honoured if you went to vote for me! 🙂
But regardless of what happens from here, just getting into the show is a huge win. That was my only goal.
Plus, it’s just pretty sweet to whisper wonderingly to myself when I think no one’s looking. The Kingston Prize! Me! The Kingston Prize!
So now I must frame her and ship her off to Ganonoque!
Exclamation marks and excitement all around!
!!!!!
With love,
Sarah xoxo
