Confession: I love bones.
It often strikes people as a little morbid (I have a studio that is increasingly full of them…)
But bones are stories.
Beautiful, sculptural, elegant stories that tell us about the life that bone supported. Skulls in particular mirror the arching shapes found in old cathedrals.
I am not being metaphorical when I harp on about our lives being written on our bones and our skin: I am being completely literal.
Our bodies shift and change with our experiences and when everything else is gone, our bones are what remain to tell our story.
This little beaver skull was the very first bone I bought, from a tiny shop in Prince Edward Island. A beaver skull, a very Canadian kind of skull, tickled my irreverent sense of humour.

May I suggest a companion painting to the Beaver Skull?
These two pieces complement each other beautifully with their colours and textures.
