Watching Paint Dry.

Now you can do it every week.

Starting next Tuesday at 1pm EST, I’ll be broadcasting live from my living room as I work on my latest paintings in progress.

“Watching Paint Dry – In the studio with Sarah Marie Lacy”

Yes, I named it “Watching Paint Dry“. I thought it was ironic and lame, which is pretty much me in a nutshell so it seemed appropriate. :)

I am so nervous, it’s kind of stupid. I don’t normally let people watch me paint, but so many people have expressed interest that I thought, “What’s the worst that could happen?” (Don’t answer that. Please.)

If you want to get an email update when it’s happening, sign up for my newsletter (I promise that it’s not annoying – it’s only monthly and I don’t sell anything through it – I just chat about what I’m doing artistically.)

I have no idea what is going to happen. It’s probably going to run for about an hour, and I think I’m going to have live chat on, so that you can ask me questions about what I’m doing etc. I’m not sure how much I’m going to talk and explain – once I get into the flow of it, I’ll see what feels natural, ya know?

Some caveats

One thing I will say is this – the live painting is purely entertainment. I’m definitely not even going to attempt to teach. I know basically nothing and most of my painting is making things up as I go. What I’ve learned is through experience and I’ve never tried to verbalize it. If you’re a super beginning artist, then maybe you’ll learn something, but I make absolutely no promises.

And another thing – if you’re an older, more experienced, fantabulous artist – please know that I’m not doing this because I think I’m some master or something. Which is to say, don’t watch just to tell me that I suck and don’t know what I’m doing. I’m young – you’ll have to cut me some slack. I’m working on it.

It’s pretty much just gonna be me fumbling with a paintbrush for an hour.

Which in and of itself is pretty entertaining. Sometimes I swear (gasp!). I occasionally sing out loud and horribly off key. I may attempt to dance in my seat. It’ll all be terribly embarrassing, but good for giggles.

And of course, if you can’t make it to the live show, I’m going to record it. If I’m feeling extra ambitious, I may even make highlights and post them here. God only knows what the highlights would be, but I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it.

Basically, it’s going to be a fun time. I’m pretty much just doing this for kicks. Hopefully I’ll see you there!*

*I’m not really sure if I mean that. I’m both afraid that people will show up and that no one will show up. I guess I’m just going to have to see how the cookies crumbles aren’t I?
