So I’m writing this Thursday night. I know. Fail. This is supposed to be Positivity Fridays, not Positivity Thursday Nights.
However, my Friday is going to be pretty intense. For the majority of the morning and early afternoon, I’ll be out consulting for designing someone’s website. (Yes, I know. I paint, not design websites, right? But I built my website, so I know enough of what I’m doing.)
But the biggest time sucker (in a totally good way)? Its Jesse’s birthday tomorrow! So everyone sing him happy birthday!
I’d tell you what I got him, but he reads this blog, so that’d kind of blow the surprise bit.
But anyways, let’s get started on the cool things that happened this week.
Awesome Thing #1: It’s Jesse’s birthday! Yeah I know I already talked about it. But still. It counts as an awesome thing. Mostly ’cause I got to bake cookies. In shapes.
There’s nothing like rolling dough and using cookie cutters to make life seem better. Even if some of my cookies broke. That made me sad. He’s gonna be getting some headless cookies. Oops.
Awesome Thing #2: I made some big shifts regarding money, and my relationship with it. Which was pretty fantastic, because I’ve been blocked on it for an incredibly long time. It felt good to get some movement there, and some shifting of ideas and perceptions.
Awesome Thing #3: The outpouring of support from the Twitterverse and other friends when I had my meltdown moment on Wednesday. It was fantastic to say the least. I was overwhelmed, surprised, and felt pretty damn loved and supported. Again and again, I keep coming back to feeling that way, and I feel so blessed.
Gosh, people rock. Especially you guys.
Awesome Thing #4: I found a picture of me on the local newspapers website! I’m like, semi-famous. Sort of. Either way, I’ve gotten a fair amount of publicity lately locally, which is always flattering. It’s mostly just getting my picture taken for small local newspapers and newsletters, but what the hey! I’m a camera whore. I’ll take what I can get.
Look at me painting away in public. I actually really enjoyed doing this. Though it did freak me out when I turned around and there were 15 people watching me. That was kind of creepy. They were so silent. (Photo credit: Niagara This Week)
And then I found another picture of me, from way back in November, of me drawing Queen Arts Festivals, in Niagara Falls. Who knew this was floating around the interweb?

Awesome Thing #5: A modeling scout scouted me today. Which is pretty flattering, even if I think I’d make the world’s worst model. And I actually thought it was just a spammer/scammer at first, because it was on Facebook, and the account was for one Katherine Newman, but the message was signed Maggie. So I sent them a tongue-in-cheek email saying that it made them seem pretty sketchy and not that reputable.
Turns out that Maggie is Katherine’s middle name. And they’re legit. And actually pretty nice and all about using real people for modeling campaigns, instead of rail thin scary models. Oops. For a second time this week, I’ll take my foot out of my mouth. You can go check them out at Coco Models.
It’s actually the second time I’ve been approached by a model scout. A few people today suggested I go for it. I’ll think about it. I’m not really the modeling type. I think I’d kind of feel like a royal douchebag. I’d spend the whole time laughing hysterically from being so nervous and then everyone would just get pissed off and fire me.
Alright, I think that’s it. This week has been kind of a tough one, and some of this is kind of lame stuff to be awesome, I know. But when you’re week is crap, even the little fun things seem really fricking awesome. So yay for the little happy things.
Like watching Robot Chicken episodes for 2 hours. And falling asleep next to your boyfriend. And eating your boyfriend’s grandma’s fudge by the pound. And drinking hot chocolate and tea, and playing in the snow and throwing snowballs at your boyfriend’s butt. And your best friend finally being home from college, and seeing her more than once every 2 months. More like every few days. And baking cookies and brownies, and then eating all of them.
So despite all the crap, lots of good little things. And that’s the stuff you gotta focus on.
Hope you all have a fantastic weekend, and for everyone who sent me support on Wednesday, thank you so much. You made the day that much more bearable. Big love.
