Happy Hour Fridays: It's Good Friday!

Again, another week that has gone so fast, my head is still in Tuesday.

It’s been quite the week. Lots and lots and lots of processing. Lots of letting go and moving forward. Big gigantic life changes.

Sigh. When do I not have a week like that? It’s kind of exhausting actually.

Some good stuff this week though, so let’s have a quick rundown.

It’s Easter. Which I don’t especially celebrate but…

Dude, it’s an excuse to eat chocolate and because I have my family and Jesse’s family, I get to celebrate Easter 3 times. Which means I get to eat lots and lots of turkey and lamb and pie. Which is awesome. So I’m pretty stoked, as I am about any holiday that involves food.

I am aware that the true spirit of Easter has nothing to do with food, but I was raised by an atheist, so for me, Easter is basically a food holiday, and I’m cool with that. Please, no one try to convert me. The Baptists tried last week, and I all I did was recycle the nice flyer they gave me. The only thing I wanted to do was lecture them about the irresponsibility of handing out flyers to people who were just going to throw them out, and did they even print them on recycled paper?!?

I just shouldn’t be allowed to talk to strangers.

Dude, I get to meet someone who hangs out on my blog in person!

So, by some strange twist of fate, JoVE, who you may recognize from the comments, because she keeps me and my lameness company here a lot, her parents live in my hometown. Which means that she’s coming down here for Easter. Which means that tomorrow, I totally get to meet up with her for lunch!

Dude, I’m totally stoked. (And apparently when I’m excited, I say things like “dude” and “stoked” and just generally turn into a stoner surfer.)

JoVE is one of the nicest people that I know, and always leaves wonderful comments here and writes a marvelous blog called Tricotomania which is kind of the greatest name for a blog ever.

Anyways, I’m pretty excited to get to meet her in person, in case you didn’t get that vibe. Now the rest of you just need to move closer so I can meet you guys for lunch too!

Prints! Woohoo!

So the wonderful Jayjay decided to order some prints this week. I hadn’t had a chance to order from my new printer yet, and while I knew he was good, I definitely did not expect him to be this good.

My new prints!

My new prints!

They look awesome. I’m so pleased. Jayjay, they’ll be on their way to you soon!

My cacti are growinngggg

So when I first put my cacti in their new pot last week, Hippo (the prickly pear) was pretty sad looking. He was all wrinkly, and couldn’t stand up straight by himself, and everyone doubted if he was even going to live.

Well fortunately for Hippo, I had the faith, and this week he looks awesome! He’s all plump, and standing upright and proud and I am just so super happy about it. And all my other cacti look a billion times better as well – greener, fuller, more prickly. It’s wonderful. Now I just need to get a new pot for Speedracer. He didn’t fit in the teacup, so I had to leave him all alone.

Maybe I’ll buy him some friends too…

I’m going to be super brave and…

Start coming up with a business plan. Not a big long scary one, but a nice simple short one. Not as like a punishment, or so I can turn into some great big corporate giant, but as a way of taking responsibility for the creation of my business.

So far, it’s been pretty haphazard. Very little rhyme or reason, and somehow I’ve sold things almost despite myself.

That needs to change. This is part of living my life from the inside out – if I’m creating this life, I’d probably better get a handle on exactly what I’m creating. My business is like a plant – maybe it’s even like a cacti. But it needs to be taken care of, planted in good soil and allowed to take root.

And that’s my responsibility. I’m actually excited about it, because the thought fills me with a sense of possibility.

Now how’s that for progress? I’ve been putting it off for a year!

Alright, we’re at the end.

I’m gonna go eat some food, share some Easter love, and maybe do some drawing in the sunshine.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend, whether you celebrate Easter or not! (Eat chocolate anyway.)

Welcome to one artist's odyssey

On May 21st, I'm going on a quest. A quest for art, for meaning, for beauty, for truth. I'm picking up my life, packing up a suitcase and heading to rural France to live, paint and study art for the next 18 months.

Yay for all the good stuff! And congrats on the biz stuff, too. I’ve really been putting mine off for a few months and I’ve been feeling like it’s time, so I may be jumping into all of this stuff with you a bit.

And tell JoVE I said HI! and give her a big, warm hug from me.
