The Birch Trees

This piece is one part real place, one part imagination and one part inspiration.

There’s a painting by a Russian 19th century landscape painter of birch trees, and I had it in my head when I photographed the real ones.

The final piece is melded together from what was really there, the vision of the piece I had in my mind and the things I loved most about the Russian painting
